ROCHESTER, N.Y., Dec. 14, 2006— As businesses challenged by paper-intensive environments seek new ways to increase productivity and streamline document management in the year ahead, Kodak has the ideal solution.
The KODAK i1860 Scanner, the fastest production scanner offered by Kodak, is now shipping. Capturing images at up to 200 pages per minute, it delivers easy-to-use operation with a color touch screen and offers ergonomic design features that include automatic height adjustment. Automatic height adjustment provides the flexibility for the operator to scan while standing or seated. The user-friendly touch screen simplifies on-the-fly performance by putting a variety of controls at the operator’s fingertips.
Research has shown a correlation between employee comfort and productivity, especially when it comes to adjustable workstations.
“Kodak has literally raised the bar on productivity by not only capitalizing on all of the imaging technologies that Kodak is known for, but taking them to the next level,” said Lois Powell, Worldwide Portfolio Business Manager, Document Imaging, Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group. “The result is a fast, futuristic production scanner with exceptional ergonomic capabilities.”
Making its debut with the i1860 is the latest evolution of the image capture software behind the company’s award-winning document imaging products. KODAK Capture Software, Version 6.10, adds MICR code support—a critical function in the sorting of checks, it augments current barcode and zonal OCR indexing capabilities. Improved zonal OCR support enables the removal of unwanted and embedded spaces from OCR engine results –commonly referred to as kerning – ensuring extraction of only the most relevant content.
“Whether it is a service bureau with a demanding duty cycle, an insurance company centrally processing thousands of claim forms, or a financial institution dealing with volumes of loan, mortgage, and other transactions, these software enhancements will ensure that they receive maximum benefit from the KODAK i1860 Scanner’s performance and features,” said Robert Bijster, Worldwide Director for Software Products, Document Imaging, Graphic Communications Group.
KODAK Capture Software, Version 6.10 adds a tenth language, Swedish, to its capabilities. And, it will support Kodak’s newest workgroup and departmental document imaging products, the KODAK i1200 and i1300 Series Scanners.
KODAK scanners, software, and services are available through the company’s channel partners. Additionally, there are a variety of service agreement offerings, delivered by KODAK Service & Support, the benchmark service provider for the document imaging industry.
