Robust LED Imaging Heads
The family of Kodak NexPress SE Digital Production Color Presses uses LED imaging heads in every press built and in every press ever built. LED heads are reliable and controllable to 256 density levels. LED heads enable a closed-loop quality control system not easily matched by the competition.
Competitive presses use laser heads which are less reliable and only have 2 levels – on or off. (See diagram) Laser imaging creates variability across the sheet as the laser is less intense at the edges of the sheet than in the middle, and this requires compensation.
NexPress LED imaging heads allow for CMYK adjustments on the fly – at press speeds (every 20 to 30 prints) to keep color quality consistent. LED heads also enable the ICS, Intelligent Calibration System, which maintains press quality and image uniformity with minimal operator intervention.
