| | | | V1.1 Support Questions | | I am using a third party scanner with the ISIS Driver. When I select Skip Blank Page, and I scan a two-sided document the resulting image is two one-sided pages (instead of a front and rear image of the same page). How do I avoid this happening? You need to select a different option for scanning images. Open the Page Setup dialog box (File>Page Setup) and click the Auto Delete tab. From this tab select the Delete Back image when (by Image size byte or Image content %) option that works best for your scan job. | | I am using a third party scanner and if I select Stop within KODAK Capture Pro Software during scanning, I do not get all of my pages that were scanned. Why? The scanner you are using probably does not support the Feeder Pause feature. Your scanner cannot safely stop in the middle of scanning, therefore, some images are discarded when the Stop button is selected. | | I installed the full version of KODAK Capture Pro Software and then installed the Demo version to try some features. I uninstalled the Demo version after I was finished. Now when I attempt to output a Searchable PDF from my full version of Kodak Capture Pro Software, it fails. How do I fix this? You need to reinstall the full version of Kodak Capture Pro Software. | | I installed the new KODAK Capture Desktop Software. When I installed it, the folders I used were the same as the folders for KODAK Capture Pro Software. Now, I get a blank page. Why? The folder for the application must be unique between Kodak Capture Desktop Software and Kodak Capture Pro Software. Uninstall the software and reinstall it to different folders and it will work. | | I am using Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. When I select the dropdown arrow in the File Type Options list, TIFF is the only file type available. Using the Up and Down arrows on the keyboard will display additional file types. Scroll through those file types to select the one you want. | | When I installed KODAK Capture Pro Software, the WIBU key was not recognized. Why? The system is recognizing a previous version of the WIBU driver. To fix this: Remove the WIBU key from the PC; Insert the KODAK Capture Pro Software Installation DVD in the CDROM drive; Go to D:\utilities\WIBU with "D:" being the your DVD drive and run the WKRuntime.exe file | | I installed KODAK Capture Pro Software on my PC with the Windows 2003 Server operating system. When I attempt to start the software, nothing happens. Why? KODAK Capture Pro Software does not support the Windows 2003 Server operating system. Install KODAK Capture Pro Software on one of the supported operating systems: Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP SP2 and SP3 (32-bit) or Windows Vista (original) and SP1 (32-bit). | | I am installing KODAK Capture Desktop Software and it does not work. I get an error that says “Error getting path to shell folder for common documents”. Create a folder named "Documents" instead of "Public Documents" in the “C:\Users\Public\” folder and it will install correctly. | | Why is scanning so slow? I am using Kodak Capture Pro Software with a Kodak i830 Scanner and am experiencing HUGE image lag time from the scanner to the computer. I have verified this is not a problem with the scanner, but is an issue with the software. The message "Image buffer almost full, processing will continue when buffer is less full" is being displayed. I do not know how to increase the buffer limit or how to clear it out. At the current image processing speed, the scanner and software are useless; it is taking 6 to 10 seconds to display the images in Capture Pro Software. The image buffer is where images are stored on the scanner. The message, "Image buffer almost full, processing will continue when buffer is less full" indicates that the PC is telling the scanner to "wait" as it copies the images to it. This can be caused for a number of reasons: Verify that the PC meets or exceeds the following minimum hardware requirements--2.8 GHz processor with at least 1 GB on memory. Recommended configuration: Dual Core Processor; Memory: 4 GB Ram (More memory is better); Hard Disk: 40 GB (7200 RPM) or better; DVD-ROM drive; Monitor resolution: Minimum 1024X768 Check your anti-virus program. Sometimes your anti-virus program checks the images as they come across, thus slowing the PC down. It is recommended that you exclude the Scan Cache folder where the images are going into within your anti-virus program. The default is "C:\ScanPro" See if the Scan Cache is a network address. If it is, move the Scan Cache to a local drive, such as C:\ScanPro (the default) to see if the speed increases. |
| | | | V2.0 Support Questions | | During the installation, I received a message indicating I need to install .NET 3.0 or greater. Where can I find that? Capture Pro Software v 2.0 requires Microsoft Windows .NET 3.0 (or greater) to be installed on the target PC. Many PCs already have .NET 3.0 installed. But if yours does not, use the link below to download and install the latest .NET release (Version 3.5): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=333325FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en If the workstation running Capture Pro v 2.0 is not connected to the Internet, there is a re-distributable file that can be downloaded to a portable media and installed on computers that are not connected to the Internet. From a computer connected to the Internet, follow the link noted above. Scroll to the bottom of the page until you find the following section and follow the instructions: " Full Redistributable Package To download the full redistributable package, rather than the bootstrapper, click on the link below to start the download: .NET Framework 3.5 full package" | | Does Capture Pro v 2.0 have to be running to use the Auto Import feature? Can I scan and use Auto Import at the same time? Capture Pro must be running on the PC in order for Auto Import to take place. There is a menu selection to enable Auto Import. When Auto Import is enabled, you cannot scan. So your Group E (or higher) license can either be configured to scan or do Auto Import, but you cannot do both at the same time. It is possible to dedicate blocks of time to each function on the same PC; for example, an operator can scan during the day, then switch to Auto Import mode and allow the workstation to run Auto Import unattended during the off hours. If you wish to have dedicated scanning stations and a dedicated Auto Import station, then you would need to purchase a separate Group E license that would be dedicated to Auto Import. | | Is the Auto Import feature available for all license groups? Currently the Auto Import feature is available for license groups E-G. In the future, we expect to make available a separate Auto Import Product. However, note that by purchasing e.g. a group E license of KODAK Capture Pro Software, any customer can make use of Auto Import capabilities because the use of a scanner is optional. | | What file types does the Auto Import feature support? Auto Import supports many popular image files including tiff, jpeg, bmp, gif, and png. It does not currently support PDF files. | | What types of capture devices can I use with Auto Import? The Auto Import capability in KODAK Capture Pro Software works independently of capture devices; although the use of a scanner is possible for license groups E-G, this is merely a different mode in which the software can operate. As long as a capture device is capable of outputting supported image file types to a location that has been set up as an Auto Import folder in a KODAK Capture Pro Software job, these images can be imported automatically. This means that you should be able to use a very broad range of capture devices, including e.g. the KODAK Scan Station 500, large format scanners and even multifunctional devices in combination with Auto Import in KODAK Capture Pro Software. | | In using Database Lookup, is there any way to match on more than one index fields? Any one defined lookup action uses a single Kodak Capture Pro Software index field to perform the database lookup in an ODBC compliant data source. Multiple lookups may be defined; however, in version 2.0 matches cannot be done based on a combination of index fields. | | In Auto Import, when I drop a number of files directly into the “Hot Folder,” they are not processed. Why? Auto Import requires that files be located in sub-folders within the Hot Folder. | | In Auto Import, when I drop a folder containing number of different file types into the “Hot Folder” some of them are not imported, and I cannot locate them. Where are they? By default, files processed by Auto Import are moved to an Archive folder. Look there to find the files. Keep in mind that unsupported file types, such as PDF, are not processed by Auto Import. | | In Database Lookup setup wizard, what is the difference between Validate Index Fields and Populate Index Fields? Validate Index Fields is useful when you simply want to verify that the data in an index field is valid and does link to the correct, valid record. Populate Index Fields not only validates an index field, but also automatically extracts the information from designated columns in the reference database and populates the corresponding index fields in Capture Pro software, thus reducing the amount of manual data entry required to index the document. | | When in the workflow does database lookup occur? Capture Pro software is designed to be flexible so it can fit into a wide range of workflow scenarios. Database lookup can be done at several points in your workflow, depending on your specific needs: - During scanning
- In Indexing mode when editing “Index input field” data or when navigating to next/previous/next invalid
- When opening an existing batch
- When outputting a batch
| | What types of databases are supported by the new Database Lookup feature in Capture Pro Software? Capture Pro Software will work with any ODBC-compliant Data Source when performing database lookup. Kodak has specifically tested with MS-Access, SQL Server, and flat text file databases. However, because we use ODBC to connect to the database, any compliant ODBC Data Source (e.g., Oracle) should work. | | I cannot select the same file types when creating output to System Output Destination as I can when creating output to a file (File 1 or File 2); why is that? In version 2.0, the architecture of the software now allows System Output Destinations to have access to all the same file types as are available for File 1 or File 2 output creation. However the choice of file types for System Output Destinations that already existed in previous versions of Kodak Capture Pro Software may indeed be limited. Some System Output Destinations such as Microsoft SharePoint and File360 have been updated whereas others have not. Also, System Output Destinations may have been developed by a third party that has not yet applied the new capabilities, or the choice of file types may not be applicable to the receiving system. | | Do I still need to install a separate Capture Pro component on my SharePoint Server in order to output batches to Microsoft SharePoint? Not anymore. The Microsoft SharePoint System Output Destination has been updated in Capture Pro Software Version 2.0 and no longer requires a separate component to be installed on the customer’s SharePoint server. In addition, Index Field Mapping has been added to make it easy to associate index fields in Capture Pro to associated metadata fields in SharePoint. | | What new scanners are supported in KODAK Capture Pro Software v2.0? KODAK Capture Pro Software v 2.0 now supports the KODAK i1120 ScanMate scanner. Click the following link for the latest list of supported scanners | | When I perform a rescan when my scanner is still enabled, I see that sometimes images are added to the end of the document; why is that? When you select pages for rescanning, only those pages will be replaced. Because you may continue to scan more pages, any pages that exceed the number you selected for rescanning will be appended to the current document unless one of those pages triggers a document separation. If instead you wish to insert pages you may do so by selecting the insert tool. Also note that when you perform a rescan when your scanner is not enabled – i.e. the scanner was stopped prior to performing the rescan – any pages you scan above and beyond the number of selected pages for rescan will be discarded. | | Does Capture Pro Software support 64-bit operating systems? Yes. Capture Pro Software Version 2.0 has been certified on the 64-bit versions of Windows XP and Vista. | | Will Kodak Capture Desktop Software also be updated now that you have introduced Capture Pro v2.0? There are no plans to update KODAK Capture Desktop Software at this time. This application continues to offer essential capabilities for productive batch and document capture and is available with the purchase of select new Kodak document scanners. Customers in the United States may also purchase the application online for use with a KODAK scanner they already own and which came with different capture software. With the addition of the new capabilities customers have now even more reasons to check out the great value of KODAK Capture Pro Software v2.0. |
